Battlefront II Campaign Introduces Iden Versio, a Pilot for the Empire

Star Wars Battlefront 2

When a Star Wars Battlefront II mini-trailer leaked, we were introduced to a female character who seemed to be the hero of the game’s single-player campaign. While this assumption proved to be correct, as confirmed at a panel at Star Wars Celebration 2017, what we maybe didn’t expect was that she was working for the Empire.

Yes, in Battlefront II‘s campaign, players will step into the shoes of Iden Versio, a TIE fighter pilot for the Empire’s Inferno Squadron. We’ll get to witness her fury as the Death Star explodes, and see the strengthening of her resolve to destroy the Rebellion. And it’s probably safe to assume there will be plenty of epic space battles in the mix.

But she’s not the only playable character in the campaign. It’s also been revealed that we’ll step into the shoes of Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren, as well as other classic characters who haven’t been announced yet.

The campaign will also introduce us to the planet Vardos.

This was shown briefly in the trailer and, according to the panel, will provide more intimate battle spaces (as opposed to the wide-open snowfields of Hoth) in an urban environment.

EA’s first attempt at rebooting the classic Star Wars Battlefront series, which released in 2015, was heavily criticized for lacking a story campaign. While it did contain single-player content, this was mostly just practice missions and tedious battles against waves of enemies. With Battlefront II, it seems much care is being put into addressing these concerns.

Oh, and they also mentioned that this story is being worked on in conjunction with LucasFilm and will be an official part of Star Wars canon.
