Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World of Light Guide – Every Chest in the Dark Realm

Super Smash Bros Ultimate - Dark Realm

If you made it to the Dark Realm in World of Light, then you’ve probably already gotten every chest that the Light Realm has to offer. If not, you can check out our handy guide to Light Realm chests.

You clearly worked hard to get this far, so you surely wouldn’t want to miss out on any of the Dark Realm’s loot. So here’s a guide to every chest in the Dark Realm in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate‘s World of Light campaign.

The Dark Realm

The Dark Realm’s overworld (or underworld?) is quite a bit smaller than the Light Realm’s, and there are fewer chests here. However, the dungeons are a bit bigger and there are some secrets awaiting clever explorers.

The chest shown above is on the southeast path, on top of what looks like a planet exploding.

3,000 Spirit Points (SP)

The chest shown above is south of the previous one, in an area filled with gears. It’s just north of the Dracula’s Castle dungeon.

30 Skill Spheres

If you take a wrong turn in the gear maze on the way to Dracula’s Castle, you’ll find the above chest. Be careful, though, because you won’t be able to access the chest until you’ve beaten Omega Ridley.

3,000 Spirit Points (SP)

On the northern path, you’ll find the above chest just beyond the small town area.

A little way past the previous chest, you’ll find the above chest resting on a ledge.

Diskun Support Spirit (Ace)

In the northern area in the Dark Realm, there’s a neon maze. The leftmost path will bring you to the above chest.

Dracula’s Castle

The Dracula’s Castle dungeon is a Castlevania-inspired side-scrolling maze. You’ll find three chests here.

30 Skill Spheres

The first chest in Dracula’s Castle is in the secret passage beneath the courtyard. You’ll have to use the left-facing cannon to get rid of the ghosts before it’s accessible.

The next chest is in the castle courtyard. In the same passage where you got the previous chest, you’ll have to use the top cannon to blow up the ghosts blocking the ladder in order to access the courtyard.

Music – “Jail of Jewel” (Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin)

In the castle’s central tower, you’ll encounter a cannon puzzle. If you can destroy the gears that are blocking the path, you’ll reveal the above treasure chest.

Mysterious Dimension

The Mysterious Dimension is a dungeon at the end of the neon maze. While this dungeon is enormous, there are only five chests inside.

1,000 Spirit Points (SP)

You’ll have access to the above chest as soon as you solve the first puzzle in the Mysterious Dimension.

2,000 Spirit Points (SP)

If you head westward from the previous chest, you’ll eventually come to another puzzle. Solve it, then cross the light bridge to get to the chest shown above.

Continue solving puzzles and heading northward, and you’ll eventually come to a colosseum-looking building tipped on its side. Just as you approach it, you’ll find the chest shown above at the tip of a knocked-over pillar.

3,000 Spirit Points (SP)

If you head north through the coliseum, you’ll come to a very long light bridge, which takes you to an area where lava is spewing from an active volcano. The above chest is right at the end of that bridge.

4 Snacks (M)

Follow the path through the lava until you come to a fork. Take the northern path from here and you’ll eventually come to a bunch of space debris and another light bridge. After the bridge is another chest (shown above) on the end of a piece of rusted scrap.

The path described above will take you straight to the boss of the Mysterious Dimension, and it will let you open all the chests. If you want to free all the fighters in this dungeon, you’ll have to do a bit of backtracking and follow the other paths to their endpoints.

Sacred Land

The Sacred Land is a dungeon that’s laid out in the shape of the Triforce. While it has more puzzles and secrets than the previous dungeon, it’s actually much smaller in size, which makes it a bit easier to navigate without getting lost (in my opinion, anyway). There are seven chests here, though one of them is empty.

So let’s start with what I refer to as the Lost Woods section of the map, which is the triangle on the bottom right of the Triforce.

Mii Headgear – Sheik Mask

The above chest is located in the lower right-hand corner of the Lost Woods.

5,000 Spirit Points

The chest shown above is located on the edge of a pond near the center of the Lost Woods.

Now, there’s a secret to this chest. Once you’ve opened it, you can tap A on it, which brings you through a secret passage. That passage opens out of another chest, shown below, which is right next to where you free Chrom.

Unfortunately, there’s no treasure in this chest.

Now, let’s move on to the next section of the map, which I’ll refer to as Kakariko Village. This is the bottom left triangle in the Triforce, and it features a circular, clock-like layout.

Wall-Merged Link Primary Spirit (Advanced)

The chest shown above is at the end of a winding path to the north of the clock area.

30 Skill Spheres

The above chest is located to the left of the clock area. You’ll have to solve the puzzle to blow up the rock first.

The final section of the map is the top of the Triforce, which doesn’t open up for exploration until you’ve completed the previous two areas. I’ll call this area Gerudo Desert.

2 Snacks (L)

The chest shown above is located just north of the center of the dungeon. If you approach the desert from the left-hand side, you can’t miss this one.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate - World of Light

Music – “Dark World (For 3DS/Wii U)” (The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past)

This chest is at the bottom of a ladder near the western edge of Gerudo Desert. You’ll have to defeat the Dark Emperor spirit to reach the chest, which isn’t an easy fight due to the Dark Emperor’s Legendary status. Of course, this is nowhere near as difficult as Pauline, and by the point in the game you should have your skill tree mostly filled in.
