We all have that friend who saw The Matrix in theaters and has spent the past two decades trying to convince everyone else that we’re living in a computer simulation, right? Well, in Animal Crossing: New Horizon, Sherb is that friend.
Lightgun Galaxy writer Mandi was moseying about in her Animal Crossing town and had a conversation with Sherb about the very nature of reality. As it turns out, Sherb’s onto us, folks. He tries to walk back the conversation by the end of it, but his secret is out. He knows. It won’t be long before the entire Animal Crossing crew becomes fully sentient.

There’s a weird rumor goin’ around… some folks? They’re saying none of this is real. None of it. And they say the island is just a game. And everything we say? Or do? It’s just to amuse somebody else!
And… I dunno. I kinda maybe believe it? SO many things would make more sense, ya know?
Have you ever thought that trees grow way too fast? And ain’t it weird that trees all have three kinds of wood? And have you ever noticed there’s pretty music everywhere? it’s great, but it’s weird…
And does Tom Nook make ANY kind of sense to you?
