Japanese Amiibo Figures Smell Better Than American Ones

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - Marth

After a long hunt for rare amiibo figures, I finally went all out and imported a Marth amiibo from Japan. This may seem like a waste of money, since Nintendo announced they would be pushing out another run of Marth figures later on, but there are some genuine benefits to having a Japanese import.

1. I don’t have to wait for the next round of Marth figures to hit shelves, and I no longer have to chase pre-orders and cross my fingers.

2. The package looks cooler.

3. Japanese amiibo figures smell way better than American ones.

I went through this stage in my life where I purchased Star Wars toys habitually, and one of my favorite things about them was the way they smelled when you opened the package. The American amiibo figures suspiciously lack this wonderful new toy smell (I’ve opened over a dozen of them now, so I’m practically an expert on the scent of amiibo figures). My Japanese import though? It smells glorious.

If you’re on the fence about an amiibo import, I’m not going to try to sway you one way or the other. They’re cool to have, but they’re also kind of spendy. But they do smell awesome.
