The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is absolutely loaded with Wind Waker references. One particular Easter egg that amiibo-less players will miss out on is the Hero of Winds armor set, which gives Link his Wind Waker appearance. Well, actually, it looks more like Breath of the Wild Link cosplaying as Wind Waker Link, since he doesn’t have the squat body or gigantic head or anything like that. It’s just the dark green tunic with yellow-ish green arms and matching cap, plus the classic white trousers. (Trousers are something you won’t find on every incarnation of Link.)
Note that this is actually a different armor set than the Hero of the Wild armor, which you can acquire through normal gameplay, though it won’t be available until fairly late in the game.
The Hero of Winds armor contains three pieces: the Tunic of the Wind, the Cap of the Wind, and the Trousers of the Wind. As I mentioned above, you’ll need an amiibo figure to acquire these armor pieces — the Toon Link Super Smash Bros. amiibo in particular.
You can scan this amiibo once per every real-world day. When you do, a whole bunch of fish will rain from the sky, as will a chest. The contents in that chest are random, but there’s a chance you’ll score one of the armor pieces listed above.
This armor set doesn’t have any set bonuses, but each piece comes with a little bit of flavor text that references The Wind Waker. You can upgrade all of these at a Fairy Fountain, though it will take a considerable amount of Star Fragments to get the full set maxed out.
Collecting all three pieces will probably take a while, but if you’re just need to have that Hero of Winds armor set, it’s worth it.
