With Final Fantasy XV‘s Update 1.12 comes the ability to convert the Regalia into the Regalia Type-D. And it’s incredible. With this upgrade, your car can now travel off-road, and it can even jump. If you trigger a battle while you’re driving, you can run down your enemies without even getting out of the car.
Like I said, it’s incredible.
Thankfully, this upgrade is not difficult to get. All you have to do is head over to your trusty mechanic Cindy in Hammerhead. Talk to her, and she’ll tell you she has a great idea for the Regalia.
You will now have an additional menu item whenever you talk to her that says “Change to Regalia Type-D.”
Just select that option, then accept the change by selecting “Yes” in the next menu.
And that’s all there is to it. Unlike the Regalia Type-F, even if you’re not in post-game, you’ll still be able to upgrade. If you decide you want your regular street tires back, just talk to Cindy again and she’ll revert back to the lovable Regalia you know and love.
So there you go. Grab your Regalia, upgrade to Type-D, and go smash some low-level monsters under your brand new, gigantic tires.
Oh, I should probably mention that the car does have a durability rating, so be careful. It’s also too heavy to push, so don’t run out of gas.
