If you’re still tethered to the stock 500 GB hard drive of the older PS4 models, you might need to make some room for Cyberpunk 2077.
Marcin Momot, Global Community Lead for CD Projekt Red, recently made the following statement on Twitter:
While the @CyberpunkGame system requirements are not out yet (they are coming soon, though!), I wanted to address this topic from reddit. The game won’t take up 200GB when installed. You can expect the required HDD space to be on par with other modern titles.
“Less than 200 GB” and “on par with other modern titles” both seem kind of vague, but at least we have a ballpark figure. And we still have time to figure out what sorts of cuts we’ll be making to our own digital game libraries to accommodate Cyberpunk 2077.
Based on what I’ve seen of the game thus far, I’m not surprised that the file size would be enormous, considering the purported size and depth of this game. And that’s saying nothing of the fact that Cyberpunk looks like a visual and graphical powerhouse.
Don’t get me wrong, this is by no means an outlandish requirement. Depending on your game library, you could clear up that much space by deleting just a couple games. Uninstalling Red Dead Redemption 2, for example, would free up almost 115 GB, and saying “goodbye” to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare could save you a whopping 189 GB.
Oh, and on a semi-related note, buying the physical version probably won’t do much to bring that file size down, but physical editions of Cyberpunk 2077 do come packed with goodies that you might not want to pass up.
Cyberpunk 2077 is due out November 19, 2020.
